Dear members of NanoGraz,
After the summer break, our next monthly meeting will take place on Thursday, October 30th, at 2:00 PM in the Bibliothek Experimentalphysik, located on the first floor of the physics building at Universitätsplatz 5 (after the stairs, turn right, behind the glass door).
Since our group focuses on computational physics, which is less suitable for demonstrations, I will deviate from the usual scientific program and lab tour for this month's meeting. Instead, I will give a presentation titled "Software Development 101". This will be a crash course on various topics related to programming, software development, and distribution (with a focus on, but not limited to, Python). These are topics that are often not covered in natural science curricula but, in my personal experience, are highly useful in everyday research.
I look forward to seeing you all there!
Best regards,
Dominik Brandstetter
P.S. A laptop is not required but could be helpful if you'd like to try things out during the session. A fundamental understanding of programming is assumed.
